Someone once told me “Be in love with your life, every minute of it”. At the time, I wasn’t quite sure what they meant. I mean, surely you can’t be in love with your life? You can be happy, but in love? I thought that to achieve this, you would need to be walking around in a permanent state of bliss and yes, I did wonder what that would look like. I thought that people would look at me as if I’d been smoking something or I had been taking some mind-altering substance to keep me constantly looking a little tizzy!

As I’ve grown and developed my spiritual self, I have come to understand that it is very possible to be in love with your life, every minute of it. And that’s not to say that you should be walking around smiling like a Cheshire cat every minute of the day. I’m thinking here of that saying “walk around with a smile on your face and keep everyone wondering!” That’s not an entirely silly thing to be doing, I might add.
Giving people something to wonder about is great. And of course you know that I’m not hinting at making people think you’ve been up to no good – but more around making people think why it is that you look so happy. That you look so at peace. And then wondering how they can create that state of mind for themselves. That’s what you want to be doing.
To be in love with your life, is to live a life of gratitude. Gratitude for everything that you have. It’s about not seeing yourself as the victim. Not seeing yourself as that person who is lacking, but rather seeing yourself as that person whose life is filled with beauty and love and great abundance. That beauty, love and great abundance can mean different things to different people. After all, we all see the world in a very different way. That’s what makes us unique. That’s what sets us apart from each other. It’s the joint experiences that unites us and the joint experiences that move us towards gratitude.
Sharing your life with others plays a huge role in you being in love with your life. Just think about it. When you’re spending time with people who uplift you and you’re doing things that you enjoy, you automatically gravitate towards a sense of wellbeing. A sense of being satisfied and a sense of being happy, being content, being okay with what you have. And it is through these feelings and shared emotions, that we begin to fall in love with ourselves. It’s the natural progression from falling in love with yourself, to falling in love with your life.
Being in love with your life doesn’t mean that you have to be absolutely one hundred percent at peace with every choice you make, with every interaction you have, with everything that you experience. It’s very necessary that we experience adverse emotions as well. Because it is when we experience these adverse emotions that we begin to understand what it feels like to be happy. What it feels like to be at peace and what it feels like to be in gratitude.
We are teaching ourselves the most glorious lessons every day. How do we do this? We do it through our interactions with others. Every interaction, whether good or bad, is a lesson in and of itself. Seeing your life as a constant progression of learning and teaching, moving from one to the other in every moment of every day, helps you to understand so much more about yourself. It also helps you to live your life in conscious awareness. And of course – that’s the goal. To be living your life in a state of conscious awareness, because that’s how you become more likely to see the opportunities that are presented to you, through your interactions with others. And it makes it so much more possible for you to take advantage of those opportunities. When you grab that opportunity because of conscious awareness, there leaves little room for disappointment and regret.
Start today. Make a conscious choice to fall in love with your own life. Make it your project. Become aware of all the positive things that happen to you and around you. Become aware of how many positive things happen because of you. Focus your attention on everything that is you, everything that is your life. Yes, you will become aware of the things that you don’t like. But that’s the beauty! You will then be giving yourself the opportunity to change those things instead of just allowing them to continue day in and day out. Take action today, to take conscious action in your life, every moment of every day and you will see how easy it is to fall in love with your life, every moment of every day.
