Much reflection has been happening around 2019 and 2020 – I have no doubt these two years will go down in history with many facets of experiences associated to them. Of course Covid will stand out but my hope is that the great lessons in humanitarianism will stand out over all the negative reports.
My good friend Frida Willis is a regular contributor to Spirit Connection. Frida is a Licensed Psychotherapist and Registered Life Coach in Pretoria, Gauteng. Her amazing advise to walk each other home safely struck a chord with me – I hope you will feel as inspired as I did when you read what she has to say :
“Never before have more people felt more alone…through the 2 years of the Pandemic, and surely before as well… The world has gone mad we say, no, let’s reframe that: The world has in fact given us back our own personal power. We were on the brink of entirely losing our minds, literally, we just handed it over to the media, the politicians, and whomever else we felt were in Charge off our lives…. They got to tell us get up, go to work, it’s Monday. Today and on a Monday this and this normally happens…
So after a few lockdowns, we don’t know our Monday from our Sunday, and we feel terribly lost and alone…well in fact we were “over-lead”. What I mean is, we became sheeple, and not free-thinking people, and no I’m not heading for a debate on Covid, I’m heading for a debate on thinking for yourself, and reaching out to your fellow human, as a human, without judgement, and returning to the safe, warm art of connection, no matter what day, month year or decade we are in… I noticed how desperately self-absorbed surviving made us…
Let us take a step back, to take a safe step forward. Take off the mask over your mind and heart, and go and reconnect, with family, friends, and strangers…As Rumi said: “we are all just walking each other home” We all came up close and personal with loss, sadness, and chaos, so let’s agree that. We need more safety; how do we create that? By being a safe person. We want a loving world, be a loving person, we want a free-thinking world, be less judgmental… these small steps will add up to give us the world we desire. Let’s begin to share our time, be the friendly one, be the available one, be the reliable one… lets agree to be brave, and create a BRAVE SAFE new world, with heart, connection and authenticity …and walk each other home safely…”
