Amidst the chaos and the daily stress that we all go through every day, how does one bring about a sense of quiet peace and harmony. Destressing at the end of the day, is not always possible for everyone. We all carry our worries and our cares with us wherever we go. It’s like we have this constant noise going on in our heads and we never take the time to just be.
Essentially that’s what it’s all about. We need to be able to prioritise our days and by that I mean, manage our time effectively and productively, so that we’re working smartly and within that managing of our time, we’re allocating time for ourselves. If you are someone who is busy all day in meetings then you need to look at your diary and block off time for yourself. If you’re a busy mom and you have children wanting something from you all day, you need to be able to set aside time for yourself, even if it’s bath-time, or those few minutes after children are in bed and you can go outside and relax, taking in the beauty of the moon and the silence of the night. It sounds crazy, but the only way to get time for yourself is to manage it. Our social conditioning makes us believe that if we aren’t busy, if we aren’t doing something for someone, then we’re being selfish, lazy, self-absorbed, irresponsible. In fact, we’re made to feel guilty to giving to ourself! Just saying that out loud sounds ridiculous!
Then of course when you do manage to set the time aside for yourself, the question is what do you do with that time to bring peace and harmony into your wellbeing. I can highly recommend meditation. It’s the one great way to give yourself up to experiencing the wonderful harmonious energies that surround us all day, but because we’re so busy and we’re always running around like headless chickens, we aren’t aware of it. When you give yourself the time, to close your eyes and connect to your higher self, to the magical mystical powers of the universal consciousness, changes happen to your body. Your breathing becomes deeper and more rhythmic allowing a better flow of oxygen through your body. Really good oxygen levels in your body, allows you to relax, it feeds every organ and every cell and it brings about rejuvenation and re-energising of the physical body. When your breathing is rhythmic, your body becomes relaxed. The tension in your muscles fades away and you as your muscles relax, the toxic build-up in your muscles begins to dissipate, again resulting in rejuvenation of the muscles. Remember that your heart and your lungs are muscles too – you owe it to yourself to work on replenishing all the goodness that you can receive from the healing energies of the universal consciousness.
Another perfect way to relax and bring peace and harmony into your life is through music. Music just has that amazing way of feeding your soul. Combine it with your time to relax outside or with your meditation and you’re one hundred percent on your way to bringing peace into your life.
Then of course the most difficult thing is to accept that there will always be things that you have no control over. Recognising what these things are and letting them go, is probably what we find the most difficult to do. It’s about finding that balance between what you can control and what you can’t and then focusing only on what you can. Again, prioritizing your life, making sure that you only give your power to what is important in your life. I can assure you that the things that you have no control over are more than likely things that are not at all important to your life. It’s a difficult one to discern but it’s important for you recognize too that most of us are control freaks and we try to fix everything for everyone or we get ourselves somehow involved in stuff that isn’t ours. Be aware of what you pay attention to – we all know that energy flows where our attention goes. Print that out and keep it next to you as a constant reminder to re-direct your energy so that it benefits you and that you are working all the time to create a life of peace and harmony for yourself.
