QUADRANGLES
In our palms, the spaces between air (head) and water (heart) lines are the quadrangles. When neither too wide or narrow, nor narrowed in the middle or wide or narrow at their ends, harmoniously formed quadrangles have mystical significance; they have been called “the landing strip of the angels.”
More generally, the narrower the quadrangle, the more intense the mental and emotional tension in the rather vulnerable owner. In the interests of self-preservation, they might be rather controlled, with inflexible attitudes and beliefs. Narrow quadrangles hint either at the owner’s feeling nature being held in check by their thinking, or the opposite; that emotion governs their thinking. Owners of narrowed quadrangles are private, even secretive people, who are in turn discreet and trustworthy when it comes to others’ lives. On the other hand, very wide quadrangles reveal traits in people of extroversion, good humor and generosity. Feelings (water line) and thoughts (air line) are separated; the person is emotionally open and also broad-minded.
MYSTIC CROSS
In this area between air and water lines in palms we might occasionally find the very rare true mystic cross. Also known as the psychic cross, this is one of the oldest and most well-known traditional signs in hands of psychic ability and spirituality in the bearer.
The “Croix Mystique” is at its most exalted when it is unattached from any other ascending or transverse lines. The key to this marking’s full significance is that it must be free-floating and independent. Crosses which are composed of connecting branches between water and air and minor earth lines are not classified as mystic crosses.
A true mystic cross is a significators of angelic presence, support from unseen realms, refined intuitive perception and supported spiritual development. Owners are insightful wisdom seekers; theirs is an active interest in and participation with spiritual growth. They are deeply attuned to and feel undivided from the God of their understanding. All matters to do with metaphysical and esoteric realms play a significant role in their direction and life-purpose.

STARS
Quadrangles are also beautifully positive positions for stars. Markings in the quadrangle relate to spiritual intelligence; in the case of stars, it might be that the owner sees into mystical realms and becomes well-known for their psychic abilities. Tradition holds that stars in quadrangles also shine light on their host becoming financially successful and that inner satisfaction is within reach.
SQUARES
As a sign of angelic support, the owner of a rare square in their quadrangle may have a strongly defined spiritual belief system, with an unwavering knowing that they are safe and protected. While standing firm in their faith, they are also balanced in feeling and thinking, The square here shows that judgments are made upon the facts involved. The person is neither prejudiced nor biased. Discretion is suggested, they keep secrets and do not gossip.
- Interestingly, we find in hand reading that aside from mystic crosses, crosses on Jupiter mounts, and St Andrew’s crosses (between earth (life) and minor earth (fate) lines), that other crosses in palms point to hindrances, obstacles and hardships, although through the lens of spiritual development these too are read as being indicators of spiritual ‘grist for the mill’ of the owner’s growth.
