Another Beautiful 12 Minute Meditation
This meditation is designed to bring about harmony through connecting you to the source of all life and be at one with the universal consciousness. Sit in a comfortable straight-backed chair with your spine erect. Lay your hands softly in your lap with the palms upwards. Relax and be at peace. For a little while forget all your troubles and problems. Just enjoy the short journey you are about to take into the realms of light. Close your eyes and breathe a little deeper and deeper.
Let’s begin our meditation with the Great Invocation…
From the point of light within the mind of God, let light stream forth into the minds of men. Let light descend on earth.
From the point of love within the heart of God, let love stream forth into the hearts of men. May Christ return to earth.
From the centre where the will of God is known, let purpose guide the little wills of men. The purpose which the masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men, let the plan of love and light work out. And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let light and love and power restore the plan on earth.
Listen to the flow of the melody and within your minds eye, you will find that you are standing on a sandy beach facing the sea. The tide is out, and you have a long walk to reach the water. You have no shoes on your feet, so you can feel the sand beneath your toes. It has been warmed by the sun and washed by the water so the ground beneath your feet is fresh and clean. There is a rock pool in front of you. Pause and look down into this small patch of sea. There are tiny pebbles in the bottom with pieces of seaweed floating on top. Put your finger in the water and gently touch a crab crawling across the floor of the pool. Look at the perfection of this creature, who is in complete harmony with his surroundings.
Now gaze up at the clear blue sky. There are a few white clouds passing across the sun and for a while there is shadow instead of light. You can see the gulls diving and dipping into the sea looking for food. The sunshine returns once more causing the small waves to shimmer and dance as they roll and lap across the foreshore. Just before you reach the edge of the water you notice that there are some large spiral shells sticking out of the sand. You see that one of them is of a radiant mother-of-pearl. Reach down and pick it up. Hold it to your ear and listen to the sounds of the ocean, deep down into the very depths of the seabed. It is as if you are being called and drawn into the embrace of the marine kingdom.
You have arrived at the shoreline and for a moment paddle and splash in the cool salt water. Let it run between your toes and swirl around your ankles. You are a child once more, on your first seaside outing. Suddenly you become aware that you are not alone. Watching you while it basks in the shallows is a wondrous dolphin. It turns, slowly heading into deeper water and you realise that you must follow it. The dolphin is making small encouraging noises as you wade out and start to swim alongside this beautiful creature. You tenderly touch his sides, feeling the silkiness of his skin. He begins to prod you softly with his long nose, rolling over on his back, inviting you to stroke his stomach. He is enjoying himself and unexpectedly leaps out of the water and dives down again, making a perfect arc against the skyline.
This large placid mammal is now swimming round in circles and you perceive that he wants you to climb onto his back. Smiling and opening his mouth he lowers himself down in the water, allowing you to clamber safely up his flanks. You are now riding your dolphin through the waves, experiencing the ebb and flow of the sea. You have become a part of the ocean itself, unifying with the fish, the crustaceans, the weed and every form of life. You have now been joined by other dolphins, jumping and bounding with the flow of the tides. Listen to their calls, try to interpret what they are saying. The whole scene becomes an active, harmonious melody of sound.
The dolphins are heading towards a tiny island jutting out of the water. This is where you dismount and make your way through the surf onto a beach ringed with palm trees. A path leads through the foliage and up a small hill onto a green plateau. In front of you are some very ancient stones and statues, placed roughly in a ring. As you stand in the centre, it becomes clear that this is an old and sacred place. The winds of time have blown across this barren hilltop and it is only fitting that you should add your prayers to those of long ago. Sit down on the short springy grass, and let love flow out from your heart to all of God’s creation within the waters of the earth. Picture the rivers, lakes and vast oceans as pure and clear. With your mind see all the pollution evaporating and leaving the surface of the planet. The world is now flawless as it was at the beginning of time.
When you are ready, take the path back down through the trees and onto the beach once more. Your friend is waiting for you and you know that he has also been sending his thoughts out into the universe. This creature is older and wiser than man and has evolved to the same level as the angelic kingdom.
It is time to make your homeward journey. Once more, sitting astride the dolphin, glide along on the surface of the sea. Look into the clear crystal water and see the many different and varied colours of the fish. Look into the distance and see spouting whales and frolicking porpoises. All too soon you reach the familiar beach, still wet with your own footmarks. Put your arms around your friend for the last time and then turn and wave farewell to him. He will always be there, waiting in your meditations.
Although you would like to stay longer with your thoughts, you find that you are back in your room sitting in your chair. Keep your eyes closed while you breathe a little deeper, and see yourself enclosed within a cross of light enfolded in a circle of light. You are feeling completely at peace with the world.
Gently open your eyes when you are ready and you can return to your daily life
