Our world is in the throes of a great shift. 2012 Marked the beginning of a 26,000 year cycle as the sun marches its way back through the signs of the zodiac. This cycle, also called the Great Year or Axial Precession, is a gradual shift in the earth’s rotation on its axis — much like shifts in the rotation of a spinning top.
The significance of this is that a new cycle has begun. The Aquarian Age. Old ways are ending. The planet has been getting ready for this change for a long time now and things will continue to change for a long time to come. But, we’ve passed humanity’s tipping point into a new age. New ways to interact. New ways to be. New ways to express. This is the dawn of the awakening of the Divine Feminine, as we see a balance between the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine, rather than a dominance of one or the other.
One can view this age as a shift from the dominance of the Divine Masculine, Piscean Age, where knowledge was power, and our world was dominated by its Solar Plexus. Sayings like “knowledge is power”, “battle of the sexes” etc. give an indication of the power issues that dominated. The solar plexus chakra represents power, will, metabolism, ease, humour, control, authority, aggression, warrior spirit, transformation, warmth, vitality, perseverance and effectiveness. It governs the creation and expansion of the body’s energy and psychologically handles the will and personal power.
With the dawning of the age of Aquarius we are moving into the heart chakra. The Heart is the centre of the Chakra System and the centre of love, compassion, balance and peace. The basic principle of this chakra is love, which is the expansive state of mind that transcends borders and limitations. The basis of this chakra is equilibrium; the one who is balanced lives longer, balanced relationships are longer-lasting. If we are in balance with ourselves, our world is more peaceful, and that peace is profound, but that equilibrium must be dynamic, in that we change ourselves continuously over time, allowing ourselves to move freely within our relationships. Love only lasts between equals.
To say that coping with this shift from a solar plexean world into a heart chakra-based world is easy or without consequences is a false assumption. There are many cultures and individuals who are highly resistant to this shift, not necessarily even consciously aware of their resistance.
I am not personally a great follower of the belief that all physical diseases have a spiritual root cause, but even I readily admit that when lung and heart disease have become so dominant in my sphere of friends, family and acquaintances, that there has to be an underlying reason. If we look at the global epidemics that have dominated over the last decade, every “flu” variant has attacked the respiratory system. It’s almost as if we are all struggling to breathe under the confines of our programming and the expected norms of society, and this feeling is being physically manifested as a spate of respiratory viruses and conditions.
Whether you are personally experiencing the effects of the onset of the Aquarian Age as a physical illness, or simply feeling suffocated by a “society’s standards” that no longer align with your personal paradigm, the best option you have is to concentrate on heart chakra balancing and healing.
There are a large number of crystals that can be recommended for heart chakra healing, but my favourites are still rose quartz and rhodonite.
Rose quartz is an important crystal removing blocked emotional stress. The vibration of pink does reduce aggression and promotes understanding and empathy, but it is a mistake to think that wearing rose quartz will make you happier. If there is a suppression of barely controlled emotions, rose quartz will likely stir up a lot of turbulence. In such circumstances, rose quartz can act as a safety valve, allowing a sudden release of emotional pressure. It balances, heals and rejuvenates the emotions. Cools hot tempers, clears stored anger, guilt and jealousy. Encourages compassion and harmony. It will physically heal the heart and lungs, so is an excellent stone for asthma.
In emotional healing situations Rhodonite complements and stabilises the release initiated by rose quartz. Rhodonite will restore a sense of equilibrium without stifling the release processes underway. Always remember that grounding stones will quickly restore balance to a volatile emotional state.
Rhodonite can help remove doubts about self-worth that prevent us from striving to achieve desired goals in life. A great deal of stress is created when personal ambitions are restrained or diverted. The entire structure of an individual’s life energy can become distorted, leading to resentment, anger and aggression that may seem to have no apparent cause. Where these emotions are present rhodonite will help divert the build-up of energy in positive and safe directions. Rhodonite encourages you to get on with your daily life and forget looking back at the past. Therefore, it is useful when you get caught in nostalgic memories and cloud the present with unrealistic expectations or lack of focus. Rhodonite helps you to release your hold on what was and accept what is in the present. It can heighten your interest in daily affairs.
I often call Rhodonite the crystal Tao symbol, in that it contains an innate balance of yin (female / dark (black) / negative / passive) and yang (male / light (pink) / positive / active) energies. Considering that the heart chakra represents balance and equilibrium, what better crystal to work with than one which is innately balanced and uniquely geared to heart chakra healing.
