I have been inspired by one of my students to write this article today. During our last session, I was asked to explain how it’s possible for me to tap into the spirit realm, for an hour, with a client in the room, and relay the messages that come through.
If you’ve ever sat in meditation and tried to communicate with your spirit guide, you will understand how hard you have to work to get a message, especially when you’re trying it for the first time, or you’re just learning how to do it. As with everything, the more you practise the better you become. I always think of Gary Player, that well-known South African Golfer, who when asked how it is that he wins so much, his answer was “The more I practise, the luckier I become.”
The way to connect with the spirit realm is through meditation. I say this because it is the only way you can do it when you are first learning how to. As you begin to work with your clients and your spirit guides, it no longer requires meditation, but rather placing yourself in a conscious state of meditation, so to speak. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, so by now it’s pretty much second nature for me!
When I do a reading, I am connected to my spirit guide who then is the ‘person’ who facilitates the entire process. The main benefit of her facilitating the process is that she keeps me protected from a spiritual perspective, in that she will keep any unwanted spirit energies out of my energetic space and only allow those energies through, who need to be there for that specific reading. Then through my spirit guide, I am connecting to my clients’ spirit guide who will always show up for the reading. I am also connecting to or being connected to, my clients’ family members or friends, who have passed into the spirit world. This means that I will either receive messages directly from that soul, or they will be relayed to me through my spirit guide and the spirit guide of my client.
It sounds like a very complex process and I suppose it is. But when broken down, it can be likened to me sitting in a group of people at a social gathering, where there are a few groups of people all chatting to each other. Then while I’m focusing on chatting within my group and listening to what they are saying, out of the corner of my eye, I am also listening to what people in the group next to me are saying and so essentially I’m following two or more conversations at the same time. In that scenario, I could very easily interject into the conversation of the group next to me because I know what they’re talking about or I could relay to the group that I’m in, what is being said by the people in the other group. I hope that all makes sense to you.
So when you’re in a reading with me, I am having a conversation with you. I always invite my clients to see our session as a conversation, rather than me just doing all the talking. I do really do most of the talking but that’s beside the point 😊. Through our conversation, I am listening to what my client is saying, and I am listening to what my guides, their guides and their loved ones in the spirit realm, are saying and I’m acting as the go-between to relay to my client what is coming through from the spirit realm.
The objective of my readings is for my client to leave the session, feeling uplifted and feeling like they have just had an enjoyable visit with someone who was able to make them feel like they were with their loved ones in spirit. Or, when it is that they have come to see me to gain direction from the spirit guides, that they feel like they are now armed with some tools and some understanding of their particular situation and feel confident that they can manage that particular situation. I’ve often been told by my clients, that their sessions with me feel so much like a counselling session and of course that’s my aim – to allow the spirit guides and loved ones in spirit, to counsel them and to bring some semblance of peace into their life.
