Taken from The Mayan Prophecies 2012 by Gerald Benedict
I decided to publish this excerpt from The Mayan Prophecies to bring to light, how the shifts that we are now feeling 10 years down the line, began and will continue still for some time to come. – Glynis Brits
Early in the 20th century we began to experience the world as a global village; at the beginning the 21st century the world has become a global household. Despite this proximity, humanity has not yet realised its oneness, its unitary nature as a single planetary organism. The year 2012 signals the pivotal moment when humanity will undergo a radical change. Through some profound mind-and-soul altering event, it will experience an evolutionary shift from atomised, individual human consciousness to that of a unified organism that breaths, moves and works together. The breaking down of the various barriers that divide people is a strikingly optimistic prophecy in face of established and growing fundamentalist entrenchments. Despite this, there are both secular and religious initiatives working to overcome the traditional differences. They do not always meet with success. The times of 10 May 2007 reported one of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s interfaith conferences, ‘Building Bridges’ was frustrated by having a Muslim-Christian dialogue conference refused by the Malaysian Government. Dr Rowan Williams warned of “the terrible consequence’ fear caused by division.
We must keep our bridges in good repair, the bridges for listening and sympathy, hearing the truth from one another, learning what the other experience is like.
What the prophecy of unity calls for (see Prophecy II) is an unprecedented unity of purpose cutting across language, culture and belief, a ‘harmonic convergence’ of the spiritually adept of all faiths and traditions. it is from this group of spiritually mature people that we must look for leadership. The prophecy reminds us of our need of gifted teachers (see Prophecy 2) who will encourage increasing numbers to take up a practice of meditation, the means of harmonising our individual and collective psychic and conscious rhythms in the form of a one-pointed focus. In the context of Buddhist meditation, temporal space-experience, is converted into a simultaneous coexistence, the side-by-side existence of things… and this again does not remain static but becomes a living continuum in which time and space are integrated.
Between now and 2012, such spiritually minded people, representing every living faith, are together capable of creating a type of spiritual battery to charge the human mental environment so as to turn errant humanity from its present course.
Glynis – allow me to interject once again. This has continued through 2012 to the present 2022 which has seen the emergence of powerful spiritual teachers and like-minded people coming together to work towards the upliftment of the human race.
(The book continues) We are the Prophecy
Although the prophecies speak of a cosmic shift in consciousness and evolutionary potential, we have to engage the processes ourselves, it is not merely a question of passively waiting for it to happen. What is about to occur depends entirely on how we respond to the Mayan prophecies for 2012. This is why we also speak of spiritual mastery. There are at least as many spiritual masters on the planet today as there are armed terrorists, and certainly there are as many people on this Earth who have attained sufficient spiritual mastery as to exceed the number of humans actively enlisted in the world’s armies.
The German philosopher, Karl Jaspers, coined the term ‘Axial Age’ to describe the period 1800BCE-200CE, as having been formative for all future philosophy and religion. He argued that during this period, similar energies in the Occident, India and China laid down the spiritual foundations on which humanity continues to rest today. These energies were drawn from many sources, for example, from the monotheism of the Old Testament and its prophetic message, the Buddha, Confucius, the Upanishads, Zoroaster and Socrates. Jaspers’ thesis has been expanded to suggest that there have been other Axial Ages, such as the Renaissance, the Enlightenment and the Age of Reason. These different period have characteristics in common, such as, a quest for meaning and the purpose of life, the emergence of new religious thinkers and leaders and prevailing socio-political conditions. These characteristics resonate with the Mayan prophecies directed to our own Age and its conclusion in 2012, specifically those referring to new teachers and masters (Prophecy2) and our quest for knowledge and meaning (Prophecies 12 and 13). What is of equal significance is that the original Axial Age designated by Jaspers was characterised by the powerful triple conjunction of Uranus, Neptune and Plato.
Astronomically, this was the only era in recorded history (590-550BCE) in which the Uranus-Neptune cycle, the Uranus-Pluto cycle and the Neptune-Pluto cycle coincided in such a close triple conjunction…the coinciding historical and cultural phenomena seem to have formed an enormous archetypal wave…
The Maya prophesied that we, together with the precision of the equinoxes, would come full circle. The hugely significant galactic synchronisation of 2012 (see Prophecy 6) is the context of the spiritual and cultural renewal that will enable us to solve our ecological problems and user in a new Axial Age. The dominant message emerging from the Mayan prophecies for 1012 is that we are the prophecy and that whatever happens in the future is dependent on the choices we make.
Glynis – still resonate today and we are 10 years further on.
