Thinking about new beginnings – what does that mean to you? Is it really a starting over, a do-over or a going back to the drawing board? Do we essentially benefit from stopping and starting our lives over and over again?
To bring about a time for new beginnings for us doesn’t need to mean that we have to go back to the beginning and start over again. With every sunrise, we’re given a new opportunity to create a beautiful day for ourselves. In creating a beautiful day, we have the opportunity to invite new beginnings into our life. By this I mean, we get given the opportunity to make a decision as to what we want to do for that day. Do we want to continue with the pain and heartache that we feel? Do we want to continue with the discontent and disillusionment that we feel? Do we want to continue to be unhappy with everything that is happening in our life?
It really is all about making a conscious decision as to how you want to live your life. If you’ve been doing things in a certain way and it isn’t working for you, what can you do to change that around? I suppose what it actually comes down to is attitude. We can choose the attitude that nothing that we do can change the heartache, alleviate the pain, relieve the discontent and disillusionment and unhappiness in our lives, or we can choose the attitude that if we put our backs into it, we can make the change ourselves.
If we seriously think about it, there is nothing that we can do to change the past. There isn’t anything that we can do to take back past hurts, disappointments, failures and heartache. What we can do is focus on the present. Believing that it’s possible for us to bring about new beginnings and new and exciting things happening in our lives, is the starting point. Knowing that we’re capable is perhaps sometimes a little difficult to convince ourselves of, but if you tell yourself something enough, you’ll begin to believe yourself. And that goes for anything, whether positive or negative. So why not tell yourself that you’re capable and believe that you are.
If you feel ill-equipped to change things for the better in your life, find someone who can help you. It’s as simple as that. There are so many people out there who have the skills and the training to help us through our lives that, for me, it’ doesn’t make sense to try to ‘go it alone’ especially when you know that you’re at a standstill, blocked and don’t feel like you’re moving forward in your life.
Seek out the help of someone who you can trust. It doesn’t have to be a professional that costs you money for consultations. Speak to people around you and ask them who they are in the position that they’re in – what did they do to bring about success, happiness, contentment, calm and a sense of peace. How is it that they can do it, what is their secret.
People are very open to chatting about themselves, particularly where they can be of assistance to someone else who genuinely believes that they can be helped by the other persons experience. And this is the reason why we’re here. To learn from each other. To teach each other. To share experiences in order that we make our lives that which we want it to be – happy, joyful, abundant.
