This meditation is designed to continue the process of opening your heart centre and strengthen your connection with the universal consciousness. Sit in a comfortable straight-backed chair with your spine erect. Lay your hands softly in your lap with the palms upwards. Relax and be at peace. For a little while forget all your troubles and problems. Just enjoy the short journey you are about to take into the realms of light. Close your eyes and breathe a little deeper and deeper.
Let’s begin our meditation with the Great Invocation…
From the point of light within the mind of God, let light stream forth into the minds of men. Let light descend on earth.
From the point of love within the heart of God, let love stream forth into the hearts of men. May Christ return to earth.
From the centre where the will of God is known, let purpose guide the little wills of men. The purpose which the masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men, let the plan of love and light work out. And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let light and love and power restore the plan on earth.
Sit back and relax, putting all worldly thoughts out of your mind, go into that quiet space where you feel protected – that quiet space where you can connect with your guides and feel at peace. As you breathe deeper and deeper, you find yourself once again at the cave that you visited in our first meditation. This is the cave within your heart wherein dwells the altar of wisdom and the candle of love. As you look out from the entrance of the cave, you will see three paths winding down the hill and disappearing into the distance. This is your journey for today. The walk will take you along one of these roads. The right-hand path represents the joys and sorrows of your life so far. The left-hand path indicates the way in which other people have treated you, be it for good or ill. The centre path portrays the positive or negative way in which you have influenced your fellow man. Pick one of these walkways and take your time in reaching your destination at the end of it. Ponder and reflect a little on the meaning of that particular road. Do not judge or criticise yourself or anybody else. This is just an exercise in the good and bad shades of existence. With most of humanity the bright patches outweigh the dull ones. As you tread your chosen path, you have the companionship of a guide who has been your friend for many incarnations. He or she is here to help you to look at the successes and the failures with equal love and understanding.
When you are ready you will reach the end of the road, which will lead you into a meadow full of wild flowers. Just ahead of you, you will see a small building which looks rather like a Japanese pagoda. It is painted in a delicate shade of pink that seems to shimmer in the sunlight. It has a warm welcoming look that draws you across the field and in through the open front door. Once inside you notice that there are glass windows all round that look out on to the shadow, letting in the sunshine. It is a happy, bright and cheerful room, which seems very familiar to you. In the centre of the floor stands a large tapestry with a seat in front of it. Your guide bids you sit and study the stitches and the colours of the wools that have been used. As you look at the picture in its wooden frame, you realise that it is a replica of your own life up to the present day. Some of the tapestry has been finished, parts of it are blank, some areas are brightly coloured, others are drab. You long to make the dark patches glow with life and wonder how you can do this.
Your guide takes your hand and draws you across the room to one of the windows overlooking the fields. Through it you see the path that you have travelled to get into the meadow. As you ponder on this view, you remember some of the people who have been hurt by your actions and you reach out from your heart centre to ask for their forgiveness. At the same time, with great compassion you send love and redemption to anyone who has caused you pain and suffering in the past. When your mission is complete you move back to the tapestry and with joy discover that some of the dull areas are now much brighter.
Your guide touches your arm indicating that it is time to leave, so you walk out through the open door and into the waiting field. For a short while just wander amongst the flowers and experience the peace and stillness of this scene. Sit on the ground and feel the warmth of the sun on your body. The sunlight is refreshing and filling you with energy and power. You have a sense of achievement, a realisation that a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. In pardoning your enemies and seeking redemption for your own faults, you have been able to forgive yourself. In order to send light out into the world we have first to love ourselves.
You become aware that the scene in front of you has vanished and you are back in your own room, sitting in the chair and slowly opening your eyes. Your meditation has been a teaching in humility and acceptance. Although you have been looking back over your life, it is now time to move confidently into the future. Put your faith in the light from your heart centre, knowing that nothing can quench it and that love will always overcome any darkness.
