The world is screaming self-care, self this self that. What is a poor human to do?
We were not schooled at this if you were born any time before 2000, and on top of that the world goes and changes on us in a matter of 2 years, with a war looming to boot.
No wonder we are all feeling like we are going slightly mad.
Home is work and work is at home, kids don’t go to school, and governments have no clue on how to help “us” the people!
In fact, just this morning I attended a seminar on what needs to be done with regards to the Mental health crisis…. So, here’s the answer:
Stop waiting for the government to take care of you, stop giving them power, and you living in fatal hope of them rescuing, and saving you from life. That is not why they exist, I’m quite sure now that I mention it, you will agree…so where is our help going to come from in times like these?
The greatest news of all is that it is already; as if delivered by amazon, at you’re your doorstep, or more specifically in your being.
Truth is the world behind your closed eyes is where you live…do it… see, that is the place of our thoughts, feelings emotions, patterns, beliefs, and expectations…
It is also the place of unlimited creativity, growth, strength, and opportunity. Yes, as the cliché goes: it all starts and ends with you. yes, is all in the mind, yes if it is to be its up to me.
May I be so bold as to recommend a first step, and then, even bolder, and follow that with more steps?
Step one….slow the heck down, book some time out, yes physically in your calendar…and just sit with your thoughts for a bit, you need to know what’s going on, on your inside, in order to know what to do to have power on the outside… so take an hour or 2, jot down your fears thoughts and expectations, cough it all up on paper. Don’t despair, you can burn it, or tear it up so no-one sees your stuff, by the way we all have stuff…so be kinder to yourself, we are ALL winging it.
Now step 2, look at that list, which of those things are really in your hands to manage or change?
Eliminate from your list the things that are not in your control, to even think about, because that too takes energy and precious time away from you feeling empowered and alive and loving life. Next, let’s see what we can work with, first …those we need help with, support people, or team players, like family rules, and ways we want to perhaps adapt our way of living at home, those become invitations for conversation and negotiation. Lastly, what is left, are those things that are wholly up to you alone, what you do and not do, thoughts and beliefs you want to keep and what to let go of…granted, at this point you may or may not need to speak to an objective outsider/coach/counselor/therapist, about the millions of ways we can change our thought patterns, triggers, beliefs, that can set us free and empower ourselves to be masters of our minds, and lives, rather than reactive slaves to fear-based, and or unconscious thinking patterns that no longer serve us. Something to remember, is that not even your personality is set in stone, your mind can change almost anything, if you so choose…and there-in lies the ultimate self-empowerment tool…. choice.
Without a bit of self-exploration, self-awareness, and inner peeking, you will simply not be able to make wiser, newer, and more appropriate mental choices for a better, wiser, free-er life… so there, it’s up to you…what are you going to choose today? Staying where you are in a mental crisis, or leaping towards a freedom that only you can create?
