There is a golden thread of thought that runs between us all when we think about the legacy that we will one day leave. And that thought is that we hope to be remembered as someone who lived a life ‘well-lived’.
For some, a life well-lived could be about finding ways to work less and have a well-balanced life. For others, it’s about ticking things off their bucket list, while for others it’s all about doing charitable work. For most of us, it’s very likely a combination of it all – it’s about spending quality time with those we love and those who matter. It’s about being kind to ourselves and others. It’s about honouring our true self expression in everything that we do with a blend of optimism, practical wisdom, openness to accepting and facing whatever arises, good or bad. It’s about showing up with love and sincere support for our loved ones and ourselves.
Designing your life well-lived should be an ongoing adventure. Embrace living a life of mindfulness, being open to constant learning and adapting to ensure your spiritual evolution. It’s about learning to be more present, finding compassion for yourself and learning to love yourself more. Focus on creating deeper connections to other people and making your daily actions have meaning.
A life well-lived means that you lead by example, that through all your behaviours, you strive for compassion, acceptance and understanding. A life well-lived means that you love unconditionally. I found this beautiful poem that says it all and thank the unknown author for these words of wisdom :
A life well lived is a precious gift
Of hope and strength and grace
From someone who has made our world
A brighter, better place
It’s filled with moments, sweet and sad
With smiles and sometimes tears
With friendships formed and good
And laughter through the years.
A life well lived is a legacy
Of joy and pride and pleasure
A living, lasting memory
Our grateful hearts will treasure – author unknown.
My wish for you today is that you strive to live a life well-lived and that you allow your light to shine forth in everything that you do.
