This world is such a crazy place! People are struggling every which way you turn.
I see so much pain in the world right now. From my clients who seek me out to help them along their journeys to just sitting outside for a short while on my patio and hearing the people around me in conversation. What strikes me most is that even though I cannot hear exactly what they are saying, it’s so easy to tell from the tones being used, that there is dissent and unhappiness.
When we finally moved out of the great year 2020, the world breathed a sigh of relief! It felt as if we’d made it through the deep dark mists of the unknown and come out on the other side, battered and bruised, weary and heavy laden, but we survived! And right there, it felt like that was all we needed, was just to have survived.
Of course many people did not make it through Covid and families were left reeling from the impact of not being able to be with their loved ones at the time when they were most needed. Families were left dealing with health issues that they never dreamed would be theirs to experience.
Now that we’re in 2023, 2020 feels like such a strange and foreign place – like we were transported to another planet, a weird and fiercely frightening and mysterious world. Certainly the entire world felt as if it had turned upside down and now it’s somehow correcting its trajectory and slowly re-aligning itself back to a more familiar axis.
Ever seen what training astronaut’s look like when they’re doing their stint in the reduced-gravity aircraft? For those unfamiliar with this machine, it is more ‘affectionately’ known as the vomit comet. The “Vomit Comet” refers to a NASA program that introduces astronauts to the feeling of zero-gravity spaceflight. Recruits climb aboard a specially fitted aircraft that dips and climbs through the air to simulate the feeling of weightlessness in 20- to 25-second intervals. As we come crashing back down to earth, from a world that we did not know, truly most of feel like we’re coming back down from three years in the ‘vomit comet’!
And the question right now is – are you coping?
Are you coping with the fact that your income was reduced or perhaps even completely taken away from you, as you found a way to either work from home or walk away from a business that was forced to close its doors? Are you coping with the loss of your loved ones as a result of the pandemic? Are you coping with relationships that are still strained through being forced into small spaces 24/7? Are you coping with your own health issues that have resulted from contracting covid? Are you coping with your children who were forced into a space where suddenly their education was theirs and your problem? Are you coping with the sky-rocketing prices of food, fuel, clothing, medical and utilities – all a result of spending a short time, in a world that turned on its head?!
It feels to me that since we went into lockdown, people are truly struggling emotionally and mentally. And it’s almost as if no-one knows how to get back to how they experienced their lives before the virus hit. The impact of the pandemic was and remains so enormous that I wonder if we’ll ever regain a sense of completely feeling secure where we are, a sense of being in complete control of our lives once again.
Society expects us to all be strong, to all be courageous, to all face our problems head on, shoulders up and soldier on. And that goes for anything stressful that we experience. For the most part, people are understanding and sympathetic, but only to a point. And then at that point, it becomes an inconvenience to still be hearing how you’re not coping, how difficult you’re finding your life, how you’re struggling with your grief and your pain, and you’re left standing alone and shouting into the darkness with just nothing there!
The bright side is that there are many people professionally trained to help. Please don’t ever feel embarrassed to call on the help of someone who can listen to you and give you the tools to move through your experiences. Don’t ever compare your experiences to anyone else’s and in so doing, downplay what you’re going through and on the other side of that, don’t ever let anyone do that to you either.
If you feel inclined, I do offer spiritual life coaching, even though I don’t advertise it. Or perhaps a private reading can help. I am so of the firm belief that connecting to our spirit guides helps to give us insight into our lives, the challenges that we’re facing and advice on how to deal with those particular challenges too.
Again, if you feel inclined, come join Mariet Pretorius and myself in our Finding You Workshop. It really is going to be an epic workshop and every participant will benefit from being there. If you are already one of my clients, you will know that my mission is to make you feel special and like you count. If you’d like to find out more, go to the Finding You page right here on my website or contact me through a whatsapp 082 570 6473
As always, I remain yours in love and service
