Albert Einstein said : “Insanity is defined as repeating the same behaviour and expecting a different result”. So in questioning : “if everything we think we know is wrong, or is an illusion, then none of us can know what to do, or how to live, or how to stay sane,” common sense tells us that we need to rethink how we do things or how we live our lives. If what you are currently doing is unfulfilling and isn’t working for you, then you have to make a change. If there are people in your life who do not contribute in a positive way, who drain your energy and leave you feeling depleted, let go of those relationships.
Make every year all about you. It just goes without saying that by focusing on yourself, you bring about change in everything around you. You owe it to yourself to be kind to yourself, to love yourself and to listen to the guidance from those appointed to you in Spirit who always have your back and your best interest at heart. Go with your gut, intuition or small voice within, whatever it is that you call it. For that is the voice of God speaking to you through your guides, inspiring you to do the best for yourself and to live a joyous and peaceful life.
With so much negativity around us, how do we stay positive? When we wake in the morning, are we grateful for another day or do we just want to curl up and hide away from the world for another hour or two before having to face our reality? How is it that we manage to live this way and in fact, what kind of a life is it that we’re creating for ourselves?
Of course we don’t have all the answers! However, ask yourself this question “How much fun am I to live with?” If your answer is “none” or “very little”, then you know you’ve got some work to do. They say that charity begins at home. We can take that further and say that everything begins at home. For it is only when our home life, which is our absolute basic foundation of who we are, is happy and truly is our soft place to fall, only then are we able to face the world with a positive attitude and outlook on life. And attitude is everything. It allows you to choose, either positive or negative depending on whether or not the glass is half-full or half-empty for you. It is something that rubs off on everyone and affects everything that you do and everyone with whom you come into contact. It can make you fun to be with or not so much fun to be with. It can allow opportunities to flow into your space or block every opportunity that comes your way. It can make you sick or keep you healthy. It can allow you to have lots of friends or make sure that you are very lonely. It can make you extremely successful or keep you down and under-achieving. It has the power to change who you are!
In fact, your attitude plays such a huge part in your life that it is something that you must ensure that you become aware of. When you wake in the morning, think about what your attitude towards that day is going to be and strive to make it positive in every aspect. Correct yourself when you see it changing and pat yourself on the back at the end of the day, when you have succeeded in keeping a positive attitude throughout the whole day. A healthy attitude creates a healthy state of mind. A healthy state of mind means a healthy body and together they create a healthy environment. And a healthy environment will make you fun to be with.
I say this all the time, but it is necessary to mention again. Be kind to yourself. Love who you are but don’t make excuses for not always showing your best to yourself and to the rest of the world. We do all have days when we are down, but it doesn’t give us the right to treat each other badly and it doesn’t give us the right to treat ourselves badly. When these days happen, acknowledge them for what they are – a learning experience – and move on. Don’t allow yourself to wallow in unhappiness, discontent or any negative emotions. Do allow the flow of life to keep moving. Holding on slows us down and if we hold on too long, it stops us completely. And when we become tied up in allowing ourselves to be held back, when we hand over our power, we are showing disrespect to who we are – starting the negative cycle all over again.
Keep your attitude in check at all times. Allow yourself to plug into the wonderful positive flow of energy that is given to us by our Creator and say thank you. Set aside time to feel it flowing through your body and mind. Let it fill you completely, each and every day.
If everything is just an illusion, how we do know what is real? Have you ever stopped to think about this? How is it possible for us to discern the difference between what is real and what isn’t? It’s a question of perception and awareness. For what we perceive our world to be, is our reality, but that doesn’t necessarily make it true albeit that for us, it makes it real. We must always remember that what we pay attention to, we become conscious of and in turn what we become conscious of, becomes our reality for that is where we are placing our awareness.
Placing your awareness on the bad points in someone, will only bring that to the fore and make you constantly conscious of those bad points. But, placing your awareness on the good in that same person, makes you constantly conscious of the good and that becomes a much easier and comfortable reality to deal with.
The Bhagadvadgita tells us that when light and discernment dawn in this body, as well as in the mind and senses, then one should know that Sattva is predominant. Sattva draws one to joy and is illumination and flawlessness.
Being pure of heart, mind and spirit is the route to discerning the difference between what is real and what isn’t. Questioning our motives, our thoughts and our actions, keeps us on that path of discernment. Treating everyone with loving kindness will always ensure that we receive the same which is a result of being pure of heart, mind and spirit.
