I told one of my clients the other day and I think I have the best seat in the house! I get to learn so much from all my clients that I see every day. I am privy to their struggles as well as their successes. The most rewarding aspect of my life is being able to be a part of those successes, through the work that I do. I take so much pleasure in seeing my clients blossom and shine, in seeing them experience those moments when everything falls into place and everything suddenly begins to make sense.
This goes for my students doing my various courses with me and those who seek me out to do readings for them. And more and more, I get confirmation, that everything that we need to make our lives a wonderful experience, resides within us. It’s all about going into those dark and scary places and discovering who we really are. When that discovery is made, the light comes on and in fact, we begin to shine that light out into the world and so we pay it forward – we help others through our understanding of ourselves, to understand themselves and experience their own personal aha moments.
I would say that 98% of people who come to me for a reading, are seeking answers to the challenges that they’re currently experiencing. And I have come to see and to learn, that the challenges that are current in our lives, didn’t just suddenly appear. For the most part, and again I say around 98% of the time, the challenges that we have as adults, can be traced back to when we were much younger, sometimes little children.
There has been much discussion and research around how much environment affects us as we grow into adulthood. And there is no doubt in my mind that it does. Where people have grown up in a negative environment, being exposed to violence, abandonment and bad behaviour, these negative experiences do affect the choices that they make in their adult life. One only needs to look back at the lives of the many notorious serial killers to see how their early life impacted their later lives. And of course, we don’t all experience those absolute extremes, but we certainly do seem to experience more negative input than positive input. And those hurts, betrayals and disappointments are carried with us into adulthood and they most certainly do affect the choices we make for ourselves.
So how do we heal from these traumas, from these experiences that have become part of our DNA? When I encounter a client who has some serious issues that are kind of above my paygrade so to speak, I will always recommend that they seek professional help. Working with a psychologist to unpack the trauma is something that you owe to yourself, if there is that need. When we have a problem with our body, we seek out the assistance from a medical doctor, so why not seek assistance from a mental health practitioner when we struggle with emotional problems.
The first and probably the most difficult aspect of this journey is to recognize that the challenges that you’re experiencing, do come from your 8 year old self. When you do, you’re already on the right road to healing yourself. There are many things that you can do for yourself too if you don’t feel the need to go to a professional for help. This is where I can help you, and for this reason, I have begun this year to do Spiritual Life Coaching – to help people to unpack the challenges that they are going through, to recognize where they come from and to give them the tools and confidence to move forward. To find peace in their life and begin to live a life that is fulfilling and contented.
