How do you say goodbye to your child? My most difficult readings are for parents who have buried their children. I did one for such beautiful parents this morning, who had to bury their 8 year old child. As a parent, I can never say that I know how they feel, but as a medium, I feel their deep and raw pain. I am always so humbled to do these readings, but the responsibility weighs very heavily on my heart.
I cannot even begin to imagine, for one moment, how difficult it must be to say goodbye to your child – no matter what age they are. Parents have dreams for their children. They love them so intensely and only ever want the best for them. They build their lives around their children. The plans they make, the decisions they take, are all always for their children. This comes from an immense sense of responsibility for a life that has been placed in your care, as well as from a place of pure unconditional love.
When their child leaves this world before them, parents are left lost and confused. The life that they had envisioned is no longer possible, and they are left wondering where to next. I’ve come to see that no matter what the circumstances surrounding the passing of a child, parents always feel an incredible sense of guilt. They are left questioning their actions, their decisions, their choices and their ability to protect their child. And that leaves a very real and raw wound that is so very difficult to heal.
I believe I’m very blessed to have my guides help me with these types of readings. I feel so privileged to bring through these children who have chosen to leave the earth before their parents. I feel too that these beautiful spirit beings, try so hard to acknowledge the love and the care that they received from their parents. It’s also always so interesting for me how much comfort they are able to bring to their parents, just having their parents know that they are happy in the spirit world. For their parents to know that they were collected by the angels, or by loved ones in the spirit world and that they know where they are and are content.
I have been doing readings for so long now, I wouldn’t even be able to tell you how many I’ve done. With each reading I do, I feel so honoured that I was the chosen medium to facilitate communication. I have come to understand that the bonds of love last beyond any imagined time and space and that even though our loved ones take on various tasks in the spirit world, they never leave us.
As a parent, it brings me comfort to know that my children chose me to be their mother. I see too the comfort that is felt by all the parents who come to me as their child, now in the spirit world, tells them that they chose them as parents. There is a certain sense of solace these readings bring to parents who have lost a child. Somehow, they draw deep consolation from knowing that this child would not have chosen anyone else. I always feel like these readings bring honour to both parents and child and somehow, facilitates some semblance of healing.
If you have lost a child or anyone close and dear to you, please do seek out professional help. There are many people who are equipped to facilitate your grieving process. Some who are professionally qualified medical practitioners, and others who know just how to hold that space for you, and walk with you, through your journey. Please don’t try to do it on your own.
