Do You Have “Lucky M’s” or Peacock’s Eye Glyphs?
“There are rules to luck, not everything is chance for the wise; luck can be helped by skill.” Baltasar Gracián
In traditional palmistry, there are markings that traditionally relate to luck. The first marking that I’ll talk about today is the so called “Lucky M”, also known as the “Magic M’.
The “M” is formed by the combination of the Life, Fate, Head and Heart lines. Not many of us have a clear “M”, it is relatively uncommon. For an “M” to be well formed in your palms, these criteria must be met.
- Your earth (life) and air (head) lines must be joined at their start.
- You’d need a clear minor earth (fate line).
- The down stroke of the ‘M’ is formed by your water (heart) line.
A ‘Lucky M’, or ‘Magic M’ is believed to be a very positive indicator in a hand. An ‘M’ is associated with very good fortune in life, along with several traits, blessings and gifts, many of which begin with the letter M.
Money. An “M” is well-aspected for wealth and financial success. Prospects for their career is positive.
Motivation. Owners will have a steady supply of self-discipline.
Management. This primarily refers to self-Management, as well as to leadership abilities.
Mastery. The concept here is self-mastery in this lifetime. Owners of well-formed “M’s” are strong and stable within themselves. Linked here is the likelihood of their having well developed intuition, which reduces room for error in business and relationships. People with an “M” are supposedly good judges of character, who can sense any hidden agendas in others behavior.
Marriage. My first teacher, a traditional palmist, taught me that an “M” in a hand increases the likelihood of the owner having a happy marriage.
Mysticism. The “M” also relates to spiritual progression. Owners align with and cultivate their spiritual lives. Perhaps this is also why the “M” has also been called the “Mark of the Mother Goddess”.
Magic. Another concept strongly associated with this marker. The owner might be a Master of Manifestation. They also are sleuths who like to solve Mysteries.
The second marking that is famed for being a sign of luck is the Peacock’s Eye glyph. They appear on fingertips as whorls pocketed inside teardrop shaped loops.
Glyphs are pre-ordained, fixed, unchangeable cosmic imprints, each receiving and exuding in their own unique frequency. They are energy portals, thresholds through which we give and receive. In the same way that tattoos, amulets, talismans and lucky charms influence our energy field, so the glyphs on our fingertips, palms and soles of our feet are inscribed symbols which influence our way of being in the world.
This intriguing dermatoglyphic skin ridge pattern resembles the tail feather of a peacock. In palmistry, a peacock’s eye on a finger denotes luck and protection for the owner. Peacock’s are ancient eastern symbols of beauty, prosperity, royalty, love, compassion, transmutation, the soul, and peace, thus the association of peacock’s eyes patterns in your hands with good fortune. Bearers of this auspicious marking are believed to be protected in dangerous situations.
In chirology, the air element is ascribed to the vortex-like whorl, or to the little, encapsulated part of the pattern, signifying a person who is analytical, observant, curious, communicative and independent.
The water governed loop part of the pattern shows imagination, flexibility, responsiveness and emotional sensitivity in a loving person who senses others’ emotions. Together, these associated traits are a positive match to the person’s manifestation of “luck” in their life.
Peacock’s eyes bring extra perspective and insight to any given situation, so owners of this “extra eye” could be a visionary, or have “an eye for the main chance”. They might be gifted with astute intuitive perception and able to see beyond the apparent. As a marker of versatility, owners will have “a discerning eye”, with design flair, and personal style, but with idealistically exacting standards.
I’m wondering why it is that some people consider themselves lucky, while others feel unlucky. Luck, or feeling bewilderingly unlucky, features significantly in some people’s lives. Some say that luck is a genuine feature of existence. Others say that no-one has luck. One thing is clear – ‘luck’ is about perspective. For example, after an accident, we “are lucky to be alive”. But some people really do seem to be very lucky, or very unlucky. Luck is a way of understanding a personal chance event, but is there such a thing as luck? Do we orchestrate our own good and bad fortune?
As a hand reader, it would be highly unethical if I were to predict a “lucky” or “unlucky” outcome in a client’ life. I wouldn’t be in integrity if I were to foretell to people they are going to win or lose in a situation brought by chance rather than through their own actions.
But because it’s been proven that people who believe they are or will be lucky are more optimistic, more satisfied with their lives, and have better moods, when I see “lucky” signs in palms, I do like to point them out and to encourage the person that believing in luck can produce positive thinking, which changes things for the better. As a self-reinforcing viewpoint, belief in good luck is an adaptive meme.
