Spirit Planes Explained Part 1

The spirit world is such a fascinating place to us here on the earth. Especially for those of us who are really trying so hard to understand what the spirit world is all about – what does is look like and how do we navigate the vast concept. I call it a concept, because even though there have many counts through communication of what the spirit world is, how it’s made up and so forth, it still remains my personal belief that none of us can say with absolute certainty. It requires of us to keep an open mind and think like a scientist. Scientists never say that they know with absolute certainty and the excitement of being a scientist is that exploration remains constant and new finding remain constant.

However, I am going to try my best to explain the spirit world and in particular the various planes of spirit from my best level of understanding. For most of us, we believe that there is the earth and then there are higher dimensions apart from the earth. Essentially life has no separation and is in fact, an expression of all creation. That expression is light or energy as we very often refer to it and of course, we as human beings are expressions of light/energy – life! Therefore, there is no separation between the earth and the spirit world and it is only our own thinking that sets limitations and creates the separation that we perceive to be there. I have often been asked where the spirit world is. The spirit world is not somewhere out there in space, it is here with us surrounding the earth and the only reason most of us cannot see it, is because the vibrations differ – so the much more dense vibration is here on the earth, where we experience life in a ‘solid’ format.

Interestingly, most of the communication that we receive from the spirit world, comes from the lower levels of existence or the lower planes of spirit. Very few accounts or communication comes from the highest spirit planes – that is to say directly from the higher planes. Because, we do receive communication from these planes, but they are filtered down to us through the various energy expressions such as St Germain who is currently overseeing the age of Aquarius, through the Arch Angels, the Lords of Karma, Chohans and Spirit Helpers. Essentially it is easier for us to receive direct contact or communication from those within the intermediate planes, which are a closer reflection of our lives upon the earth – very similar. These intermediate planes being much more similar in terms of level of vibration.

Thought Planes
All the spirit planes surrounding the earth are a reflection of the different levels of light or vibration within the human spirit. So each plane reflects the light or even lack of light, of those who reside there, each within their own environment and each with others of like nature – so similar all round. Thus, unlike the earth where the laws of nature govern the expression of dense matter, the spirit planes are made up of much finer matter which we refer to as the Ethers. These ethers, unlike dense matter, are not defined by the laws of nature. Thus, they respond to thought, creating an expression of the thoughts of those who dwell therein. Even though those who reside within the lower planes may no longer be bound by a physical body (flesh), they continue to be bound by their own thinking, simply because they do not yet understand the power of their thoughts. Think about how many spirit beings, here on the earth are so similar – they do not understand the power of their thoughts.

We know that there are spirit beings (humans) on the earth, who do not express light and joy. So it is with these planes of existence, whose inhabitants (for lack of a better word), also do not express light and joy. However, it is important to understand that these levels of existence form an integral part of our development as spirit beings.

The Darker Planes
We all know that we have spirit beings on the earth, who express themselves with violence and criminal behaviour. There are those who hide their motives behind a façade of respectability and those who disguise their behaviours as being done in the name of God – those people who carry out acts of war, violence and terrorism. Whilst they speak of God, their hearts are filled with hatred and darkness. These people will depart the earth and will evolve to these darker planes of existence for as below, so above. They still need to understand that their thoughts are powerful and the only way to raise their vibrations is to set aside the darkness in their hearts and minds.

These darker planes are inhabited by spirits whose thoughts and motives have become obsessed with their own destructive nature. I found an excerpt from a book which apparently is now out of print, entitled “A Wanderer in the Spirit Planes,” which gives a factual account from one who wandered these dark regions, helping those who were beginning to ask for light. This is what he relates :

“….As we emerged we found ourselves in a land of night. It might have seemed like a bottomless pit of desolation had we not stood on solid enough ground, while above us was a dark sky, like blackened smoke. How far this country extended it was impossible to know, since the heavy atmosphere like a black fog shut out our vision on every side. I was told that it extended throughout the whole of this vast and dreadful sphere.”

Fortunately we have evolved to a place where we have spirit beings upon the earth, who are able to tap into these darker planes of existence with the soul purpose of assisting the progression of these darker souls. It is work not for the feint-hearted and work that is done with great compassion and unconditional love. I have been told that the greatest lesson learned in doing this amazing ascension work, is the deep understanding of compassion, and that for me, is such both a privilege and a blessing.

The Dull Planes
Above these darker planes that we have been speaking of, the so-called normal planes begin. These are the planes of ‘normal’ spirit development. Some people speak of twelve different planes, others say seven, some nine. Our understanding is that within these planes, the level of vibration is brighter and lighter, each one slightly progressively more intense than the next. The lower planes are referred to as the Dull Planes or the Planes of Illusion, because although those here may not be dark in the sense of being hateful and cruel, they have incorporated little or various degrees of light or love into their spirit whilst on the earth. At this point, throughout each of their human expressions, they have not yet looked beyond their own lives for any greater light or understanding. So within these planes, they are not very different in that they still do not seek the light. In the book “Excursions To the Spirit World”, the author begins by saying :

“…Many seem to think that every trip to the spirit world must be full of excitement, with many new wonders and strange things to see, but this is not always so. In my early projections I was taken to the low un-progressed states many times, and as these are just like earth and the inhabitants do not know of anything better, their activities were often banal and boring.”

So we can see that even within the spirit world, one can continue to be bound by lack of motivation and remain oblivious to the light and love which essentially remains dormant within their soul. A further excerpt from the book “Excursions To The Spirit World”, the author continues…

“…In these lower spheres are spirits of varying degrees of ignorance, and some have not the slightest idea that they have left the earth. Others have the impression that they are living a different life, but it is dream-like and not very positive. These people carry the same mind-set which they had on earth, and “spirit” is just as vague to them here as it was on earth. May remain contented in their ignorance, therefore their minds do not seek for, or know of, anything better. These can not be “pushed” forward, for in spirit the Law is, that the urge to seek must come from within themselves.”

There is so much to take in here and get one’s head around, so I thought I’d end off here.
