My spiritual journey officially began in the fall of 2016. At that time, my daughter was a junior in high school. In October 2017, I manifested a crazy tailbone infection that would lay me up, loaded on pain meds, for six months. Then, in August 2018, she moved into the dorms across the state.
She wasn’t around me enough to reap the benefit of being around a mom who left her old life behind, finding her way to peace and tranquility. She has virtually no idea who I am and what I have come to know. The only thing I can do for her is to give her little nuggets as she moves forward in her life. This letter I just sent with a gift for her twenty-third birthday:
Well, kiddo, it’s all you now. You’ve got the pen, and you’ve got the paper. The first page is where you begin to write, The Book of You. Every single page in this book consists of a choice you made along the way. Although you may sometimes feel that you are driving your own bus, you need to check in with yourself constantly. You need to stop and think, “am I doing this because it is what I want to do? Or is it because someone else wanted me to, and I did it against my better judgment?”
So, no matter, you made this decision. You chose it. When you realize you did not choose where you wanted to be, you chose where someone else wanted you to be, you will start to know you are living YOUR life for someone other than you! You will also come to realize you do this all the time. Everyone else is driving your bus while you sit in the sixth row, hands over your face, wondering when you gave up control.
You then realize why your gut gets all out of whack. It’s because you are not honoring yourself; your needs. You aren’t following your directional signal. This is where every illness or ailment stems from.
Until you promise yourself from this moment in time – until forever – you will serve your needs first, this is the rinse/repeat cycle of life. You will stay stuck until you make you happy first.
When you do this… when you say “YES” to you, 1.) You will never get sick, 2.) You will always be happy, 3.) You will continue to get more good stuff. It can’t stop coming. It becomes a magical merry-go-round. The only thing you need to do to feel this good all the time is the easiest thing you’ll ever have to do. But you will also find now that you will be looking for it… it is one thing you don’t do.
How can someone write the book of their life when they’re not living it? When you are living, going, eating, drinking, wearing, being, or anything that is not 100% authentically you, you are feeding yourself sips of arsenic; every single time.
No one is doing anything TO you. Everything that happens is because of a choice you made – no one else. You can’t write The Book of You while living for others. Who are you? What would you have decided if you went with YOUR gut? Don’t you wonder where that road would have led you? I guarantee it would have been delicious. Had you only trusted in yourself?
When you say “yes” to things you want to say “no” to, you, the human body and mind, are out of alignment with what You truly want. The more we do it, the more illness we attract. We get sick because of dis-ease in our life.
When you are in alignment, you are on fire! You are invincible. Only beautiful things happen to you over and over again. You can only feel this way when you are being true to yourself. When you honor your needs, you ooze with love, joy, and happiness. You are contagious. Everyone wants a slice of your pie. Now that I share the secret to living this way, you can start today. Then imagine what that book will say? Hannah did what?
Once you start living from this space of loving yourself first, you will find that you have so much more love to share. Once you live in this lane, you know exactly what you need to do to stay feeling this good. One choice that doesn’t benefit you will send you spiraling if you don’t stop it immediately. And now that you know what it feels like to be aligned, you won’t allow yourself to slide down that slope! You will become a master at it.
Isn’t this all so easy sounding? I know, right? Now I can’t wait until you pay attention to every single decision you make. We make hundreds, even thousands of choices daily. You won’t be able to help but pay attention now that I’ve pointed it out – and this is a beautiful thing! When you realize that you have made decisions that are not in your best interest, you’ll be surprised how you allowed this to happen for so long. When you get over the shock, you will start paying better attention to how you feel. When you do this, you will begin to heal what ails you. It’s all tied together.
We’ve heard everyone telling us what is best for us throughout our lives. What we should be, where we should go, where we should live, who we should marry, when, and how many kids we should have. We get muddled with everyone’s beliefs during our lives. We get so much input; we don’t know where they stop, and we start. It’s a bunch of circles crossing over each other.
When someone tells you what to believe, if they didn’t actually experience it, how can they know it is true? How could anyone believe something if they didn’t personally experience it? Good question, right?
My best advice is to throw out any belief about anything that could be limiting and believe there are no rules or limits. Then there won’t be any.
As you turn 23, now living in Los Angeles, the City of Stars, I have one rule for you to live by. This one rule will be a life-changer. This one token sentence is what every human needs to hear, understand, to live by. If we all did, this world would be so full of love. It can start with you.
You’ve listened to them all. You’ve heard what they had to say. Now I beg you… it is time to listen to the one, the ONLY one who truly knows what path you want to choose and what decisions you want to make.
They have all of the answers to all of your questions. This particular person, the ONLY one you can trust to keep you in alignment… is you. The only way to access this gold at the end of the rainbow is to start listening to yourself.
Go inside for your answers. They are not outside of you. They never will be. It is time to start trusting the one being you are here to serve. It is time to trust yourself. Then I promise everything else will fall perfectly into place, with grace and perfect timing. There are no errors.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
