Part one of a series about the markings in hands which reveal various aspects of spiritual intelligence.
There are several features in a set of hands that highlight an owner’s awareness of non-material realms. The search for meaning, interest in transcendance and deep existential enquiry are reflected in lines, skin and dermatoglyphics, as is God-consciousness, the call to self-mastery and overall spiritual intelligence.
In this month’s article we take a look two of these features: Rings of Solomon and Sympathy Lines. Both appear on Jupiter mounts under water (index/Jupiter) fingers.
In today’s approach to palmistry, we make a distinction between Rings of Solomon, which are curved, and Sympathy lines, which are the more commonly found straight lines that cut diagonally across Jupiter mounts.
Markings on Jupiter mounts must always be read in conjunction with the relative size of the mounts, and with the shapes and sizes of their fingers above, the variables of which have relevence to how we conclude our interpretations.
Additionally, as with all of our hand’s features, hand readers cross-reference to other shapes, forms and markings of the hands for indications that support or diminish the characteristics and traits bestowed by the feature. For example, what does the person’s hand shape tell us of their element style of self-expression, and what does the form and flow of their air (head) lines reveal about their thinking?
Before looking into meanings for Rings of Solomon and Sympathy lines, let’s consider the significance of the forms of their underlying Jupiter mounts, and of the water/index fingers above.
Jupiter Mounts
Jupiter mounts are the pads of flesh under the base of our index fingers. The mounts and their fingers above are both associated with qualities of ambition, achievement, self-worth, personal authority, leadership and personal philosophy.
The mythical king Jupiter (Greek – Zeus) is the sovereign god of light, thunder and the sky. Jupiter is governed by both fire and water in astrology, and is the planet that stands for possibility, expansion, the capacity for out-reach, a broader purpose, exposure, recognition and luck.
Large and firm Jupiter mounts increase judicial and benevolent traits; a sense of justice, honour and fair play is aspected. The person is inclined to be good-natured, sociable, warm and enthusiastic. They could be confident in the public eye and enjoy lucky breaks. Well-formed Jupiter mounts also emphasize work ethic and motivation.
If a person with Rings of Solomon or Sympathy Lines has too much puffy flesh on large Jupiter mounts the owner has selfish traits and is given to waste. The positive interpretations diminish. If their fire/ring fingers are also norticeably long, the likelihood of conceit and exhibitionism increases.
Confidence, assertiveness and realization of goals are said to be more difficult for people with small Jupiter mounts, who especially if their index fingers above are short, thin or bent, have poor self-worth. For people with Rings of Solomon or Sympathy Lines, social ineptitude or social phobia limit the application of the positive traits. Small Jupiter mounts also show passivity; owners might hide their heads in the sand rather than engage.
Water (Jupiter/index) Fingers
When interpreting Rings of Solomon and Sympathy Lines, the relative set, length, thickness and shapes of water fingers are key. Known in the 5 element system of interpreting hands as the “finger of personal identity”, the shapes and sizes of our index fingers relate to self-esteem, sense of authority, power, ego and leadership.
If a person with Rings of Solomon or Sympathy Lines has water fingers that are low-set, short, thin or bent, their poor self-worth will inhibit the ring’s positive gifts. Or, if the fingers are thick, long and lean outwards and have whorl dermatoglyphics, traits of authoratarianism will infuence how the person uses the gifts of these feautures. Ideally, owners have straight, harmoniously formed water fingers.
Rings of Solomon
True Rings of Solomon run from between index and middle fingers and the thumb-side edges of palms. They might appear as a single line, or be duplicated or even triplicated. create a ring like effect across Jupiter mounts. Named after the wise Biblical king, this power marker is said to signify wisdom and knowledge; the owner might be a spiritual initiate, a person of a higher harmonic who cultivates their relationship with Higher Power.
Considered in palm reading to be one of the most spiritually auspicious of the palmar markings, the relatively rarely found true Ring of Solomon has many rich interpretations. Believed also to aspect the ability in the owner to impart wisdom acquired through many lifetimes, this feature is often found in the hands of people in professions of authority and leadership that require skilled communication and applied discernment, such as judges, lawyers, nurses, teachers, trainers, psychologists and counsellors.
Owners will be respected, and are generous and benevolent, with proactive attitudes and positive visions. With their high spiritual IQ’s, they see beyond the superficial, are insightful and intuitive and are able to discern true cause of behavior without judgement. They comprehend and have a feel for mystical realms. They are philosophically inclined, intelligent, and love to learn.
When cross-referencing, the formation of the water (heart) line has special relevance: does does it end in a fork that conjuncts with the Ring of Solomon? If so, idealism is added, and the ring’s most exalted meanings are magnified.
Sympathy Lines
You won’t find mention of these these relative newcomers to palmistic consciousness in old palmistry books These lines are very similar in form and meaning to Rings of Solomon, however, are straight instead of curved and might be only partially present and seem to ‘float’, in which case they are partial Rings of Solomon. They often appear as sections of several lines. Sympathy Lines are far more commonly see than are the true Rings of Solomon.
Meanings for Sympathy Lines are similar to those of the curved version, in that owners are said to be empathic and compassionate; they have psychological insight and understand the psyche of others. They might also aspect humanitarian traits in a person who helps relieve suffering. As opposed to the intuitive and emotional wisdom associated with the curved formation, Sympathy Lines are said to aspect a more logical approach to wisdom.
